Found this spot on a You tube travel video as having one of the best rice rolls in NYC! We took the subway over and walked Amsterdam to this casual, order at kiosk eatery. Sit at any available table and food will be delivered when ready. We ordered the spicy chili wontons and the steam bbq pork rice rolls with our choice of corn, bean sprouts, and cilantro. Drumroll.... the winner and our fave was the spicy chili wontons!!! Tasty! So tasty that we ordered another plate of it lol The bbq rice roll was just ok, a little bland, I would probably order the shrimp next time. Love tho that there are table side condiments to add more flavor if you like. Easy simple comfort food at a reasonable price. Definitely worth it!

Yummmm! I love rice rolls and I was super happy when I found this place in the UWS. The shop is pretty small and casual-- it has several tables if you want to eat in. Service was quick. Joe's Signature Rice Roll: 10/10 (the rice roll was super silky and soft. Loved the ratio of rice roll to the veggie/meat ratio. Sauces were bomb.) I'll definitely be back when I'm craving some rice rolls!

Great for a quick bite to eat! I stopped by a few times and each time the food was brought out quickly. Beverage selection is a bit small and seems to be exclusively bottled or canned, I would have loved if there were a few more options. There are a few tables to sit at and I didn't have a problem finding seating since it seems like a primarily takeout place. Being able to build my own rice roll was what brought me here. Ive always loved eating these at dim sum restaurants and the ability to customize my own was un passable. I loved how soft the rice wrapper is and would stop by again!

I was really craving a rice roll and had heard about this place so my friend and I headed here after seeing some food bloggers suggest it. I'm so glad we went because it was exactly what I was looking for! The rice roll was so thin and melted in your mouth, the fillings were just enough, not too much that you couldn't taste the rice roll and not too little that there was too much rice roll, it was just the perfect bite every time. The chili oil added a richness and spiciness that kept your mouth tingling until you finished eating, which in my books is exactly how a chili oil should be. The shop is small with only a few tables but we were lucky to snag one, it seemed like people came and went so getting a table didn't look too hard. You order on a kiosk and the wait wasn't very long at all, maybe they're busier on other days but we went on a Sunday at lunch and it was just fine. Absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back on my next visit to New York!

YOU MUST VISIT THIS RESTAURANT!!!! Actually my new fav spot. I'm not even close to the location and come frequently now. Everything on the menu is gonna be good, you really cannot go wrong. My favorites are the pork steam rice roll with egg and sprouts, and the spicy pork dumplings with chili oil (may be called something different but that's what they are). You order on a kiosk and everything is very customizable. Lots of non meat options too! It's very casual dining, you eat yourself at one of the tables and it's a the small space (5 tables maybe?). The service time depends on how busy they are, but it's quicker than a sit down restaurant. It's great for lunch and dinner, and my only complaint is it closes at 8:30 -- I wish I could go later at night to satisfy that craving!

One of my favorite quick solo meals. I love getting their rice rolls with curry fish balls and then drenching it in soy sauce, chili oil, and peanut sauce. Such a perfect comfort food and super affordable too.

Glad to see Joe's Steam Rice Roll opened in the Upper West side since I'm a huge fan of their Flushing location! [Note, to avoid any potential confusion for my followers or anyone else reading this review, I absolutely believe Joe's Steam Rice Roll is not the same Joe as Joe's Pizza, Joe's Crab Shack, Trader Joe's, Joe Biden, or Joe Scarborough. I could add Joe Stalin to that list because recall years ago seeing his grave in Moscow.] This awesome cheap eats offers basically the same menu as the original Flushing spot, making it a worthwhile place to grab a bite. Although the UWS Joe's Steam Rice Roll provides a few small tables, this time opted takeout of my favorite Shrimp Rice Roll filled with corn, sprouts, and scallions and topped with soy and peanut sauces. Loved it! Definitely coming back for more! Next time, ordering a Chinese Pancake and Chinese Crepe to get a better understanding of what the difference is! Highly recommend stopping by Joe's Steam Rice Roll when you're in the neighborhood!
